Dr. Atencio is amazing! I have suffered from chronic back problems and headaches since I was young. I have seen many doctors and Chiropractors in the past, but Dr. Atencio is by far the best. After seeing him I have not had a headache or back pain in several months. I feel like a whole new person! I strongly recommend if you need to see a Chiropractor that you visit him. He is EXCELLENT!

I want only the best doctors to treat my medical problems, so I do extensive research to make sure I find the best in their respective fields. I'm writing this review to share my research in finding someone to treat my back pain in the Austin area. Dr. Atencio at West 38th Street in the Shoal Creek Building just off Mo-Pac near the Seton Medical Center has the latest top line medical equipment DRX etc., outstanding education, training and experience. He sees general chiropractic patients but his area of expertise, one in which he excels far above the other doctors, is in the resolution of spinal disc problems. I just read last week in the Austin Business Journal that a recent study found that thousands of people in the country are going through unnecessary back surgeries at great expense. It said that many of the surgeries were avoidable if workers took advantage of treatment options. This doctor is the best option in the Austin area. If you have back pain or disc problems, this is the doctor to see before you consider surgery.

No longer skeptic I saw Dr. Atencio after two years of low back pain and chronic sciatica pain, only after exhausting all other possibilities... spine specialists, neurologists, physical therapists, miofacial release and injections. I was very skeptical and decided to see a chiropractor as a last resort, instead of surgery. I felt that I had not been correctly diagnosed, and relief was still possible.
Dr Atencio used Active Release Therapy to relieve the nerve entrapment and I also successfully completed the Spinal Decompression treatment series. He even gave me relief from an old shoulder injury that I mentiond one day. I encourage anyone with chronic pain to consult with him. He is low key, but, very thorough in his diagnosis and explaining a treatment plan, only if he feels it will be beneficial.
He looks too young to have the years of experience and knowledge in pain management that he brings to his practice. He's wonderful!
I am 65 years old and am hiking, working out and enjoying all my activities again. YEA!

Posted 07/29/08 at 2:46pm Best Technology and Expertise Anywhere I suffer from a crushed vertibre (mountain bike accident about 15 years ago) and have seen several other chiropractors. This clinic has the best technology and expertise of any I have found. After a few weeks of treatment I am feeling relief I never have before. I will shop no more for a good chiropractic clinic. Bart specializes in sports related injury and knows how to get you back on your feet.

The receptionist is extremely nice and friendly as well. I look forward to my next visit.

Posted 03/26/08 at 2:13pm My back pain is gone I initially sought out a consultation with Dr. Atencio after I had three epidurals, and had tried months of medicine with only minor relief. Dr. Atencio did a very good examination and started treatment that week. After 6 sessions my lower back pain and leg pain from my herniated disc was 70% better. After another 3 sessions of decompression therapy my pain was gone. The decompression treatments were easy, and I basically slept through my treatments. I also did some rehab. on a high tech strengthening device that also helped me a lot. I am now able to stand as long as I want without pain. The clinic has the best and latest equipment available for non-surgical treatment. I found the location to be centrally located and really convenient, right on the corner of Jollyville and Duval. They run the clinic well, and made sure I never had to wait long in the waiting room. The staff is wonderful. Dr. Atencio is so kind and always made me feel so comfortable and important. Lovely clinic. Fair price for the technology being offerred. The price was comparable to others, yet the technology was so much better. As they say, you get what you pay for. I am pleased and will continue to refer people in pain to Dr. Atencio. Two thumbs way up for Texas Spine and Sports Therapy Center..... A wonderful choice! Nicest Chiropractor Ive ever met.

 I won't go to anyone else! As a competitive runner and years of intense training, I had developed plantar fasciitis, resulting in constant pain in my foot with any pressure. I met with several doctors including foot specialists, but Dr. Atencio was the only that could provide a real cure. Through several short sessions using the Active Release Technique, he improved my condition and without any shots or medications. I felt better from the first session and have been able to resume my training again as a result. Additionally, Dr. Atencio has provided other chiropractic services and counsel to help me train stronger and live healthier. He is very professional and provides very clear explanations and instructions. He stays current in industry knowledge and the best options available. I am committed for life!
